Purge Session Events routine in NAV2013R2

In NAV2013 there was this field in Dynamics NAV Server Administration console, called Session Event Table Purge Frequency. It specified what time on which weekday the Session Event Purge should run.

Starting from NAV2013R2 this field is missing. When does the purge run then?

Microsoft just replied to me that apparently yes, the Session Event records are deleted instantly, as soon as they become older than the specified number of months.

    Mystery solved.

Thank you for taking time to gat back to me, Stefano!

I understand that the routine deletes records older than the specified number of months (by default 3).

My question is – how often, and when, does it run?

Does it run once a day? Or once a month? At what time?

Or is it permanently on, so any record is deleted the moment it becomes older than 3 months?

Ok now it's clear what you mean :)

In NAV the option "Session Event Table Retain Period" is still available, the other flag NO.  This is an integer value that specifies how many months events in the Session Events table are retained (Default: 3).

My suggestion is to delete the Session Event table directly because in this way you've more control on that.

    Most certainly

    The value

    0 6:00

means - the old Session Event records will be deleted on Sunday at 06:00 in the morning.

Are you sure that it’s standard? I don’t remember this settings in NAV 2013. Can you show a screenshot?

It's a maintenance routine that runs regularly and deletes old records in Session Event Table (otherwise it grows into millions of records). In NAV2013 you could tell the server exactly when you want to run it (e.g. on Sunday at 03:00 in the morning). From NAV2013R2 onwards you can't. So now I don't know how and when NAV runs it...

Sorry then, but I think I’ve not understood what you mean by “purge” then.

Thank you Stefano, but this is not the question I asked... :-)

Session timeout is now managed in the Service tier in this way:
