Are there any 3rd party scanner apps available yet to read barcodes for D365 Business Essentials (business central)?

I have a client that would like to be able to have users scan their badge to purchase items in house, then bill them at the end of the month.  Has anyone seen anything like this in D365 yet?

    Reading barcode with a scanner attached to your machine (also via bluetooth) is not a problem also with D365BC. A scanner acts like a keyboard emulator.

    Is this functionality out of the box or with an app extension?  If out of the box, where can I learn more?

    This is not related to a specific app or functionality. This is a standard behaviour. If on D365BC you have a text field and then you scan a barcode with a Bluetooth scanner connected to your pc, on that field you’ll see the value read from the scanning.

    Is this available in the current D365 BE for finance or only in the new BC coming out April 2nd?

    Do you know if there is any help documentation on it to learn more?

    Yes, it works also in the current D365BC release (what will be out on April, 2). I repeat: this is a standard Windows functionality, not strictly related to D365BC or other. Also NAV works like this.

    This is all new to me so excuse my ignorance.  What would be needed for setup/connection to D365?  I assume an app, but is there anything else the client would need to have or setup to use this functionality?

    Just buy a bluetooth scanner, connect it to your pc and it works despite the application you're using. There's no setup or app to download, you can scan a barcode directly in a D365BC page field (all is run in your browser).
