Adjustment of warehouse entries due to system issue

Hi all,

I have a negative entry in Warehouse Entries due to a system issue. Here’s what happened:

For one Warehouse Shipment, I first created a Pick and then deleted it.

I then created a new Pick. However, when I registered the second Pick, the first Pick was not fully deleted only the Place line was removed.

As a result, both Picks are now registered under the same shipment, giving me two Pick lines and one Place line in Warehouse Entries. In contrast, the Item Ledger Entries (ILE) show only one shipment line.

I need to adjust the warehouse entries to correct this discrepancy.

We cannot use the Warehouse Item Journal, because Directed Put-away and Pick is not enabled since go-live.

Any advice on how to safely adjust the warehouse entries would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello,

Correct with the Warehouse Item Journal

This method creates a precise counter-entry to fix the imbalance in the specific bin.

Find the Bin Code: First, review the incorrect negative Warehouse Entry to identify the exact Bin Code from which the item was taken

Open the Warehouse Item Journal: Navigate to the Warehouse Item Journal page.

Create a Positive Adjustment Line: Create a new journal line with the following details:

Entry Type: Select Positive Adjmt. This will add the quantity back into the bin.
Item No.: The item number with the discrepancy.
Location Code: The warehouse location code.
Bin Code: The Bin Code you identified in step 1.
Quantity: The exact quantity of the negative entry you need to reverse.

Register the Journal: Once you've filled in the line, select Register from the action bar.

This action will post a positive warehouse entry that directly cancels out the erroneous negative entry for that specific bin, aligning your warehouse quantities with your item ledger without affecting inventory value.

    Hi Oussama,

Thanks for your suggestion. However, I can’t use the Warehouse Item Journal because it continuously prompts me to open the Directed Put-away and Pick.

Since we haven’t enabled this function since I started using BC, I’m unable to open it now.

Do you have any alternative workaround for this?

    Regards,
    Than Lwin

Try using the Calculate Warehouse Adjustment function in the Item Journal to bring the 2nd pick line to the item ledger entries as well. Then you can use the Item Journal to get rid of that entry after.

    Hi,

You can use Calculate Warehouse Adjustment even if Directed Put-away and Pick is not enabled. This function will identify discrepancies between Warehouse Entries and Item Ledger Entries.

    > Run Calculate Warehouse Adjustment in the Item Journal to bring the extra “Take” entry into the Item Ledger.
    > Post an offsetting Item Journal entry to zero out the quantity.

If the adjustment doesn’t pick up the entry, the only supported option is to reverse the shipment and reprocess. I hope the invoice is not posted yet or you might have to reverse the invoice.

    Thanks
    Rishabh

    Hello Valentine,

Thank you for all your suggestions.

I tried to create the journal using the Warehouse Adjustment function, but it didn’t pick up the required quantity.

    Hi Rishabh,

Unfortunately, I have already posted the invoice, and it happened last year. I didn’t notice it until now. If I reverse will the whole invoice will it be the two pick line also reverse.

You can use "Calculate Warehouse Adjustment" in the Item Journal

    1. Access the Item Journals: Navigate to the Item Journals section of your WMS.
    2. Select the Batch: Choose the appropriate batch where adjustments need to be made.
    3. Initiate Adjustment: Click on the "Calculate Warehouse Adjustment" button. This will bring up a dialog or prompt you to specify the details of the adjustment bin.
    4. Review Adjustments: The system will automatically generate new journal lines for adjustments. Review these lines to ensure they reflect the actual stock conditions.
    5. Post Adjustments: Once verified, post the adjustments to update your inventory records officially.

    Thanks

Got it. This is a strange issue, there's really no standard functionality to adjust the warehouse entries without touching the item ledger entries, because the two should equal most of the time.

But there is a trick you can do that lets you adjust warehouse entries only. This only works in the warehouse item journal so what you can do is turn on directed put-away and pick, make the adjustment, then turn off directed put-away and pick. The last post on this thread has good instructions for using this trick to adjust warehouse entries only - Advance warehouse. I would try this first in a sandbox environment first as its not a simple process, and only do it if you're extremely comfortable/knowledgeable using the system. This is one way to possibly fix this, otherwise your partner should also be able to help with this.

If you have tested all the standard methods, you can only consider customization (not recommended), or temporarily enable Directed Put-away and Pick.
Dynamics 365 Business Central: Can we skip/ignore field validation errors?

PS: Dynamics 365 Business Central: Can we insert/modify/delete posted data (Posted Documents & Posted Entries) via AL???

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Hi all,

I temporarily enabled Directed Put-away and Pick and performed the adjustment. It seems to have resolved my issue.

However, there is one issue arise in warehouse entries after making the adjustment, the Warehouse Entries are now showing negative entries in the adjustment bin. Is it possible to correct the negative entries only within the adjustment bin? Is there a way to fix this?

I followed the solution shared in the last post of the thread below, but it didn’t work for me:

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hi

Reverse and reprocess, don’t manually edit Warehouse Entries.
