Hi everyone,
I mistakenly posted a negative adjustment entry using the Warehouse Item Journal, which has resulted in a negative quantity showing in the adjustment bin. My location is set up as an advanced warehouse location.
Now, I need to make a positive adjustment to balance the quantity, but Business Central is not allowing me to make a positive adjustment through the Warehouse Item Journal.
Could someone please guide me on how to resolve this issue and correct the adjustment bin's quantity?
Thanks in advance!

OK, thanks for clarifying, I assumed that the quantity on the adjustment bin was still -10.
So if I followed the steps correctly, these must be the balances on warehouse bins after each operation.

    1. Positive inventory on BIN001. Since this operation is reflected on inventory, adjustment bin balance must be 0.
        BIN001: +10
        ADJMT: 0

    2. Erroneous negative adjustment.
        BIN001: +10
        ADJMT: -10

    3. Corrective entry on BIN001
        BIN001: 0
        ADJMT: 0

And this is the situation for now. To fix this, we need to add 10 pcs to BIN001, while keeping 0 balance on the adjustment bin. This involves some black magic again, and we need to take a note of the way different combinations of entry type and quantity are treated in the warehouse journal:

If the bin code is left blank, then this is what the warehouse journal will do:
Positive adjustment + Positive quantity -> Error
Negative adjustment + Negative quantity -> Error
Positive adjustment + Negative quantity -> Positive quantity posted on adjustment bin
Negative adjustment + Positive quantity -> Negative quantity posted on adjustment bin

    4. First post positive adjustment on BIN001, this will move 10 pcs from adjustment bin to BIN001, so the balance will change to following:
        BIN001: +10
        ADJMT: -10

    5. And the last step as to apply that trick and post post positive adjustment on the adjustment bin without changing the balance on BIN001. Enter a journal line with quantity = -10 and change the entry type to positive adjustment. Keep the zone and bin code fields blank and post. Balance after this operation:
        BIN001: +10
        ADJMT: 0

Now quantity is aligned in item ledger and warehouse entries, if you run warehouse adjustment it won't suggest any quantities. And from here, you can post the correct adjustment on BIN001.

@Yi Yong I am unsure how this happened, but I was able to post a negative adjustment from the Warehouse Item Journal without specifying the Zone and Bin. The system posted the negative entry to the adjustment bin. However, when I attempted to post a positive adjustment, it returned an error, requiring me to define the Zone and Bin.

    @YUN ZHU
I have advanced warehousing enabled with Directed Put-away and Pick turned on, which typically prevents posting entries directly through the Item Journals.

    @Alexander Drogin
I also tried performing the black magic, but it seems that it failed in this case. The system threw an error: "The Bin Content does not exist."

For further clarity, let me explain my issue:

I have an item, ITEM0001, with an inventory quantity of 10. This quantity is reflected both in the Item Ledger Entries and the Warehouse Entries, stored in BIN001. My goal was to adjust the inventory by reducing it to 0 in both the Item Ledger and Warehouse Entries.

To achieve this, I went into the Warehouse Item Journal to make a negative adjustment. However, I mistakenly left the Zone and Bin fields empty, which resulted in a -10 adjustment to the adjustment bin instead of BIN001.

Realizing the error, I made the correct entry—a negative adjustment of 10 from BIN001. This action removed 10 from BIN001 and added it to the adjustment bin, resulting in a net quantity of 0 in the adjustment bin.

While this appears correct from the Warehouse Entries perspective, the Item Ledger Entries still show an open quantity of 10. When I run the "Calculate Warehouse Adjustments" on the Item Journal for ITEM0001, nothing appears for adjustment because the adjustment bin now shows a quantity of 0 for ITEM0001.

Could you please advise on how to resolve this discrepancy in the Item Ledger Entries?

    Agree with Yi Yong.
And if it is a quantity issue, you can use Item Journal to adjust it directly.
If it is a location, bin or zone issue, try item reclassification journal

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

Ah, you hit this nasty warehouse journal posting gap! It is a bug to my opinion, it must not be allowed to post journal lines without a bin code on a WMS location. Nonetheless, this possibility exists, and validation blocking it are implemented only on the UI level, in the journal page itself. And not without issues, apparently.
Now you can do one not quite obvious workaround. Enter a line with quantity -10, it will change the entry type to negative adjustment. Change the type to positive adjustment, but keep the quantity negative and post. Entry will be posted on the adjustment bin as a positive adjustment with quantity = 10.
    Some black magic from BC.

    Hello,

I don't think you can negative adjustment on Warehouse Item Journal without specifying Zone and Bin.
You might want to double-check on the warehouse entries.

I mistakenly made a negative adjustment of -10 in the Warehouse Item Journal without defining a zone or bin on the lines. This resulted in the adjustment being applied to the adjustment bin only.
Now, I’m trying to correct this by creating a positive adjustment of 10 in the Warehouse Item Journal, again without specifying a zone or bin. However, the system shows an error (screenshot attached).

Can someone guide me on how to reverse this adjustment from the adjustment bin without affecting quantities in other bins? Leaving the quantity in the adjustment bin as is will cause issues when running the "Calculate Warehouse Adjustment" function on the Item Journal, as it will include this quantity from the adjustment bin.

I remember that it was possible to register positive quantity in Warehouse Item Journal.

I'm also curious what the error message is?

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

What is the exact error message that the warehouse item journal gives you? You should not be worried about negative quantities in the adjustment bin, it's just a virtual container, and you can't post directly on it. When a warehouse operation is posted in the journal, all standard verifications are skipped for adjustment bins, so the error must be related to the actual warehouse bin where you want to post your operation.
