eMail Vendors GP 2010

We have used the eMail Manager for Binary Stream for GP 10. One of its nice features was the ability to set, per vendor, whether to us the email address off the Purchase, Remit To or Ship From vendor address ID. I have done a test upgrade to GP 2010 and was told of the new email capabilities. This does not seem to be one of them as I cannot find any similar functionality. Does anyone know if GP 2010 allows you set set and use these email addresses off the different vendor address codes when emailing purchase orders?

I believe the e-mail address is taken from the purchase address ID. This is set at the bottom of the vendor card.

    Kind regards,

Which means we will continue to use the Binary Stream product because we have different email addresses assigned to different address IDs.

    Sounds like a good plan

    Richard,

If I am understanding your needs properly, this functionality is available with GP2010.  You can have a different email address per address id for each vendor.  In POP, when you create a purchase order, you have the ability to change the purchase id to any address ID set up for that vendor, meaning the email address will be picked up for that vendor address, not the address in the default of the vendor card.

Furthermore, you could possibly do a Dexterity add-on to the email detail entry window with a lookup button to select the email address from a list sorted based on the address iD's for that vendor, but that would be kind of like re-inventing the wheel.

    Best Regards,

    Aaron

You can set a different email address for each Address ID.  In the Vendor Address Maintenance window, select the Address ID, then click the Internet Information button (the little italicized i) and enter the email address(es) there.

Both of you are correct and I need to add a point of information. With Binary Stream eMail Manager we can do a mass emailing of sales orders and purchase orders not to mention vendor EFTs. So on the PO side, the setup is for each vendor where we designate whether to use the Purchase, Remit To or Ship From address ID to which to send the email. So at the end of each day, there is a mass PO email screen which has all the days POs ready to be emailed. Some or all get selected and with the push of one button there they go. We never just pull up one PO or SOP and click to email it is always in bulk. Do you know if GP 2010 provides the same functionality?

    Richard,

There is a canned navigation list in the Purchasing series that lists all Purchase Orders.  You could possibley create a custom sort to get the ones you want, and then by check marking them (at once or individually) you can email them all in just a click or two.  While this is pretty nice to be able to do, the PO has to be issued using the address that you want the email sent to because you don't have the ability to change it on the fly from the navigation list without opening each PO individually.

    Regards,

    Aaron

Thanks Aaron, I will check that out. I have just started reading the GP 2010 Binary Stream eMail Manager documentation and it does a lot more than just send eMails. It integrates with CR, SSRS plus PDF generation. I will update this thread with my findings.

    Richard,

Do you have multiple e-mail addresses per address ID? To my knowledge, each address ID can only have one e-mail address. You can change it with each PO, but I thought you wanted to default a certain email address as you choose.
