Import Account and Contact

Hello, I'm trying to import from an excel format Account and contact together. I would like to import also the primary contact so I saw in the Help of CRM on line that I need to import in a .zip file the data together.  So I prepare two worksheet, (account and related contact) save as a txt file, zip together and import.

The error code is that the system could not resolve the Primary contact

May someone help me?

    Hi Simona,

did you use the preconfigured Data Mapping?

This should help to upload it together

    Regards

    Florian

Just for debugging - could you try importing the contacts first from a CSV file. I wonder if there is one particular contact it's getting stuck on. In case you want to understand about CSV import, you could have a look at this

What field are you using on the Account spreadsheet to identify the Primary Contact? If you are using full name and there is more than one Contact record with that name (eg John Smith) then CRM won't be able to decide which one you mean.

Use something more unique such as email address, then in the mapping for the Account records, configure the Primary Contact lookup field to use the email of the Contact as the key, rather than the name.

Alternatively, add a field on Contact to import a unique ID (for example based on date + row number like 201604260001) and use that to key them together.

    Hi Simona,

Make sure you have primary contact column in Accounts sheet and account name is Contacts sheet. Thanks

While importing the zip file make sure contact record already exist or it is part of contact file and try again.

Else you can import the files separately first contact then account.

    Thanks,

    Sam
