We have added a new Account Category (viewed primarily within the Project Transactions), but I don't know how to "link" it to the COGS G/L account Coding? (When I enter a new BOM, I want to assign the Account Category, but the new Account Category is NOT in my pull down menu).

Andie - you are in the wrong screen. As Elaine noted, you want to open the "Chart Of Accounts Maintenance" screen in GL. In there, you will be able to assign a GL Acct # to an Account Category.
I still don't see it. I also don't see a place to assign the project either (from the first message). In SL, I'm going to the Financial module, then G/L, then Maintenance, then "Account/subaccount Maintenance". The screen that appears only shows (G/L) Account #, sub account, and the F4 forms shows the same thing. There is no Account Category or Project. Any suggestions ??? !!! grrrrr
Use f4 to bring this up in form view. The field is toward the bottom .

In GL>Chart of Acct Maintenance, you can add acct categories to accts. When you do this, when using that acct, a project is required or you must enter the non post project.
