Dear All,
If the fiscal period is closed on purchasing module, warning message should appear while entering the date of Purchase Order Entry window, Like Inventory, Finance, Sales modules.

It will check the posting date not the PO date. Click the blue arrow next to date. Plus if you are entering these PO receipts in a batch you may be posting by batch date.

If you want GP to pop-up a warning when entering the dates in transaction forms on closed periods, you need to have PSTL installed and enable the function about closed periods warning.
As Richard said, the only default warning comes when trying to post against a closed period.. not when entering the transaction.
