Account number prints incorrecly on all GL reports

The GL account number string has started printing incorrectly on all GL reports, those that are modied and those that aren't.  This has happened on two separate installations.  In one case the account number is truncated and a box prints in one segment.  In the other the segments are just truncated.  There are several KB articles that sound similar, as well as at least one post in this forum, but none have helped.  This is happening on a version 10 installation.  The following have been tried so far without success:

  1. Rename reports.dic and run standard reports with no modified reports available
  2. Export all modified reports, create new reports dictionary by importing report packages
  3. Resynchronize dynamics.dic and reports and forms
  4. Verify that the Dynamics ODBC is set up with "Use regional settings when outputting currency, numbers, dates and times" unchecked.
  5. Verify that the number of decimal places for all posting accounts is set to zero in GL00100
  6. Delete GL00105 and run check links on Account Master
  7. Reboot SQL server

The only thing that has worked is modifying reports and changing them to use Account Number String field instead of Account Number field.  The field is coming from the General Ledger Trial Balance Temporary table, which is a true temporary table and so not accessible.  Rebooting the SQL server did not resolve the issue.  Needless to say, modifying every single GL report is not a viable solution.  Account numbers printing on Payables reports print correctly.

This is happening on a terminal server as well as on individual workstations and happens in all companies.  Last week a new printer driver was installed for a network printer.  There were problems logging in, which were finally tracked down to a setup problem with Named Printers.  That has been resolved, and as mentioned above, the reports dictionary has been recreated.

I'm running out of ideas.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.  Thanks!

Account number prints incorrecly on all GL reports
    Thank you AustinG_31

Unfortunately it wasn't so simple for me.  The problem only exists on the Terminal Server so the Reports.dic IS shared.  I already recreated the Reports.dic and it made no difference.  I had to modify the form itself and replace the fields on the report.

Not sure why, but I had to recreate the Reports.dic for most every 2023 YE Update I did.  This Terminal Server is the only scenario that didn't work.

Account number prints incorrecly on all GL reports
    @P_Aitken,

I had the exact same situation pop-up for one of our clients, just upgraded to 18.6.1695 and it started happening, but only on GL Trial Balance reports. I recreated the Reports.dic (export everything in Customization Maintenance, rename the Reports.dic, reopen GP and import the reports pkg I just exported). Client's Reports.dic was not a shared dictionary, local workstation only.

Hopefully your able to find a solution!

Account number prints incorrecly on all GL reports
I am having the issue where the Account # is not printing correctly on any of the GL Trial Balance Reports after installing Dynamics GP 2023 YE Update (18.6.1695)  However, this only happens when printing the GL Trial Balance Reports from the Terminal Server.  When printing the GL Trial Balance Reports from the SQL Server, everything prints correctly.  I've tried all of the above except:

3 - Resynchronize dynamics.dic and reports and forms
5 - Verify that the number of decimal places for all posting accounts is set to zero in GL00100
    6 - recreate the GL00105

I have also recreated the Reports.dic on the Terminal Server and imported all of the reports from the working Reports.dic (on the SQL Server) but it does the same thing.

What is different in my case is that I don't think it can be the data as all GL Trial Balances print correctly from the Sql Server Installation.  The problem only occurs when printing all GL Trial Balances from the Terminal Server!  This totally stumps me.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

RE: Account number prints incorrecly on all GL reports

Thanks so much for the post.  I also had the same trouble with a GP 18.3 installation and was going crazy trying to figure it out.  I never think about the Forms dictionaries! Resolved now by creating a new one.

I have the same issue after applying the 2020 year end update SP to GP 2018. Surprisingly,

Josh Parker's solutions (recreating the forms.dic) fixed the issue. Thanks Josh!

    Hi,

I am very confident it is your forms dictionary.   Recreate it and you should be fine.   Go to Customization Maintenance export all the modified forms to a package.   Rename the forms.dic (no one can be in).   Import back in your package of modificaitons.   I have had the exact same situation and that was it.

Yes, the vba code calls a separate document imaging product that they use.  I'm not certain which windows they've attached it to.  We're holding off doing anything until next week as month end close is in process.  My thought is to create a new forms dictionary without the vba code and see if that fixes the problem and if so, try reimporting the forms.  If that doesn't work I will take your suggestion of  recreating views, stored procs, etc.

Thanks Richard and Francisco for your suggestions.  I'll let you know how it goes next week.

I agree with Richard, do you know what that VBA code does?, but I will go 1 step further, you have GP Database Maintenance, it wouldn't hurt if you recreate the views, stored procs and triggers using it, it might be that by refreshing the internal stored procs could lead you to a solution.

Give it a try, just remember to run the GRANT.SQL script after just in case
