Outlook 2010 with the CRM 2016 plug-in on Dynamics CRM 365 Online compatibility

Greetings everyone,

We're looking into migrating our CRM v2016 Online to v365 Online and at the present moment, all of our Outlook clients have the v2016 of the plugin.  I've been trying to find documentation on whether or not we could stay to the v2016 plugin for a while before migrating to v365.

I've found plenty of documentation on the compatibility of the opposite (Outlook plugin v365 on CRM 2016 online), but found nothing really concerning this case.  Could someone point me to a document stating if there are potential compatibility issues please ?

I will be migrating our Dev environment to version 365 and install the 2016 plugin to test, but ideally if there are additional information, it would be most welcome.

I also realize that ideally, we should migrate the clients before migrating the server, but for a few reasons of internal development, it might not be feasible.

Thank you and regards !

Hi Alex, thanks for reaching out.

You are correct, there is nothing that says D365 can't use the CRM2016 for Outlook plugin. The link below shows all compatibility options available. This includes Outlook 2010 (Cached Exchange Mode only) as compatible.

I would recommend looking at the Dynamics Web App for Outlook as well if the only need is track and 'set regarding'.  Let us know how it goes.

    Hello Tom,

Thank you for the information.  The migration of the Dev environment is scheduled for Monday night.  I will hopefully be able to do a few tests on Tuesday and report back on any problems.  Our Dynamics 2016 Online is pretty basic (no extensions), so hopefully it should go smoothly.

    Kind regards,

    Alex

    Hi Alex,

Tenfold just recently added MS office 365 to their integrations list. Tenfold offers features such as click to dial, automatic call logging, easy note taking and task creation, screen pops on inbound and outbound calls, new lead/contact creation when no matching records, support for cases/opportunities and advanced analytics on the backend. They also support MS Dynamics integration. www.tenfold.com/.../dynamics
