Bug in Vendor Modifier (GP2013 R2) - Email settings erased

When using the Vendor Modifier on a vendor that had email settings configured, those settings are erased after using Modifier to change the Vendor ID. After processing your change, you need to go into the Vendor Card, click the Email button, and then reset any configuration of email settings for the vendor(s) in question.

I didn't test the Customer Modifier, but I assume this bug exists there, as well.

Are you on GP2013?  If so, then the Combiner & Modifier are listed in the Area Pages, in the Utilities sections.  For Payables, it would be Microsoft Dynamics GP >> Tools >> Utilities >> Payables >> Vendor Combiner and Modifier.  It would be a similar path for receivables.

In GP2013 these tools were pulled out of the PSTL and incorporated into the core GP application.

If you are on an earlier version of GP, then they would be located in the Professional Services Tools Library, which is usually set up in the Shortcut Bar of the Home Page.  To add the PSTL, right-click in that shortcut area, choose Add >> Add Window, and then browse to Technical Service Tools >> Project >> Prof Services Tools Library.  Once the shortcut is added, just click it to open the library.

    Lyn,

Did you ever figure out why the Vendor Combiner/Modifier is not listed? I need to use it and can't find out how to access it anywhere. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Thank you Lyn for the confirmation... That actually makes sense (i.e. MS removed the Tools from PSTL that are built into GP 2013R2 now)... but I need to check yet to see if in GP2010R2 they did behave the same way (about the e-mail address)..

Good idea - I hadn't tried it, but I did just now... I couldn't get it to work, though, due to an "invalid access" message (in spite of being logged in as 'sa').

I assume this is because the Modifier has specifically pulled out of the PSTL and is now in the core product.

When you pull up the PSTL in GP2013 R2, the Vendor Combiner/Modifier isn't even listed.  I added a shortcut to my navigation pane, so I could give it the old college try, and that is when I got the "invalid access" message.

    Hi Lyn,

Did you try if the PSTL Vendor Modifier works the same way ? I know that some tools of the PSTL package have made their way permanently into GP 2013R2, but was wondering if it's the exact same behavior..

I make it a habit of using the List Pane to make mass edits to the email settings:

In the List Pane, click Vendors.  Mark all the vendors you would like to update, click the >> icon in the MODIFY section, and then select Email Settings.

Use this window to apply mass changes to the email settings for the selected vendors.
