    Hi

We had the similar situation and the only option was development. But we avoid that for the following reason

The transfer order creates demand for location X. By forcing transfer order to not consider full needed QTY for Location Y then we do not generate demand for Location X and it is a chance we do not order that part or do not order enough. This development could also create a loop. Location Y need certain QTY but since Location X is out no Transfer order created. Then Location X never aware of that demand.

    Hi

You can go to Item List then try Availability -> Item by Locations (or in each item card check that). Or in Item list go to report and try some of those reports.

The other method (which we use) is to have minor customization in requisition worksheet to show QTY on hand for each item and then generator can change transfer order QTY -> create transfer order. Then run again and create second transfer order for the difference to capture the full demand.

Or look into this free app

You could also look into using Picks, which would only create the Pick if the inventory is available to Pick.  The transfer is needed regardless of inventory level, and will cause demand for however that location is replenished.  The pick will tell the warehouse what to pull based on what is available to transfer.

    Hi Ben

I always needed more info about Pick. We did not utilize warehouse module in BC. We only have one location and no bins or etc. Can we still use Pick here? if yes does requires any extra setup? Any help will be greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

You can still use Picks without Bins.  You would want to utilize the Shelf No. field from the Item Card.

You would need to turn on Require Pick, which will create Inventory Picks.  The biggest thing to note with Inventory Picks is that once the Pick is posted it also Ships the Sales Order.  If you wanted this to be two separate processes, then you are looking at Warehouse Shipments and Warehouse Picks, which is a bit more screens to work through in BC.

In place of Inventory Picks, some companies simply print the Sales Order as a Pick/Pack Sheet.  This means no additional processing in BC, but wouldn't solve the original request on this thread.

Thanks Ben for information. It was really helpful

Yes we use Pick Instruction from sales order (modified version) and we use Dynamic Ship for shipping. I will test the pick based on your guideline.

    Thanks

Inventory Picks won't work with Dynamic Ship, as it will mark the Order Shipped during the Pick process.

You could modify the Pick Instruction report to only print products with QOH higher than line quantity, but if you have multiple orders for same item there is no inventory allocation.  There are ways to factor that in, but you have to really think through the scenario.

Your next best option is adding the Warehouse Shipment and Pick, just understand their is more separation inside of BC.

Thanks Ben for your detailed answer. I will investigate those options.

We did not use warehouse because of one location. But more and more looks like we need to use it.

    Thanks again
