Rent/Lease Fixed Assets

Hi everyone,

We have a client requirement where they would like to start renting/leasing machines that are recorded as Fixed Assets example;

- Create machine as Fixed Asset and insert asset acquisition
- Rent out the machine to a customer for a fixed rate per month and process incoming payments accordingly.
- In the meantime, depreciation should be calculated on the asset
- Need to keep track of to which customer is the machine currently rented out to avoid double booking of a machine.

Does anyone know how this can be achieved in Business Central? We are open to ISV apps recommendations from the AppSource as well if this is something that cannot be done using standard Business Central.

Thanks in advance.

    No, not out of the box functionality - We looked into ODT Rentals.

    Hi Yanika

    Did you find a solution? I am currently working on the same issue and can't seem to find a solution.

    Hi, just to add some information, as far as I know this is a standard function in D365 Finance, you can refer to this function with your partners to make a customization.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    There seems to be a lot of rental solutions out on AppSource

    So you should evaluate them together with your partner.

    Out of the box Business Central can not do what you request.

    The nearest work around I can think of would be registering the assets as resources and use the job module to book them.
    But I do not think that will be an ideal solution.
