Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment for Dynamics 365 For Operation (VSTS)

Hello experts,

We are trying out the processes of automatic build, release and deployment in D365.

We need developers to check in their codes to VSTS and this checked in code will need to be built and deployed to various environments, by using build definition, release definition and triggers.

We have already created and executed the build definition, which resulted in artifacts (deployable packages) being created via build agent.

However we want to know how to create a release definition (e.g. what tasks are needed for the release definition ) automatically deploying it to the specified environments.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Lincoln Poh

    Hi Lincoln Poh,

There is nothing out of the box to release built packages, however, you may build it on your own. Here is an example of what you can do github.com/.../d365-foee-alm

    Hi Ievgen Miroshnikov,

I'm a colleague of Lincoln Poh and we would like to thank you for your prompt reply.

We have already roughly tried out all the steps mentioned in the post, but stucked at Step Seven.

Would you please kindly explain what does this mean "(Note - I've added a custom step to upload these scripts from source control to the DeploymentTasks artifact in the Trunk Build definition)" ?

What is the additional step we have to implement to upload these scripts?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

In the build definition that is created automatically by Microsoft, I added an extra step to upload the deployment scripts that I have checked in to Version Control in the same branch.

I have deployment scripts folder to trunk and when build generates I always get this error:

"Publishing build artifacts failed with an error: Not found PathtoPublish: C:\DynamicsSDK\VSOAgent\_work\1\s\$\[xxx]\Trunk\DeploymentScripts

Not sure what I am missing, please help.

Please add one step before Publish artifacts i.e. Copy Files to: Staging Directory and use default parameters.

    HI,

I have 3 dev's env. on vm for development which is linked with TFS. e.g. dev1, dev2 and build server (same as dev),
and i have 3 on-premise sandbox env. which attached with LCS. e.g. Test env., STG env. and Prod env.

Now how manage or implement CI/CD on above environments.

    Thank you.

    Regards,
