Default receipt location for WMS enabled warehouses

Hi experts,

I want to populate default location for an item when creating/recieving a PO line. The trouble is that I have to use a WMS enabled warehouse and WMS enabled storage dimension. Is there any solution or workaround for this?
I have the same question (0)

I assume you mean WHS in D365 F&O.

No, it's not possible. The location is determined by the location directive on work creation when you receive the PO line.

Question: Why do you need a default location?

If you receive the PO using Arrival Overview functionality, you can set a default receipt location that is used on all lines of the receipt via the Arrival overview profile.

We will be rolling out advanced warehouse functionality at a later stage. Users are new so we are starting with basics and we are trying to avoid any extra steps.

    Hi,

On the setup of the warehouse you can define the Default receipt location (Warehouse management > Setup > Warehouses > Warehouse). This is also for simple warehouse, only for Advanced warehouse this location needs to be LP controlled as from simple warehouse not.

    Is this what you mean?

    Best regards, Tamira

If your items are enabled for Warehouse management processes but you want to default the location for a Purchase order and manually receive in the UI instead of via the mobile application, you can use the Warehouse items form to assign Default receipt locations. This should only be used if the Warehouse is not setup for WMS but the item is.

Then in the future you can move your items to use Location directives with Warehouse management once implemented. IF using Warehouse management warehouses as well, you could use Warehouse form setup, but it may be logical and could interfere with WMS processes, typically much more of an issue on the outbound / sales end and how it would interfere with WMS processes. On inbound, you could perhaps implement this and then use manual movements in the WMS app for putaway.

Alternatively, you could use Fixed locations then configure your Location directives for PO Putaway to use Fixed locations via the Location directive action fasttab
