What happens when a user is deleted?

Our first system administrator is no longer with our company. If we delete her account, what will happen to the records, customizations, etc, that she created? If they disappear, how do I delete her account while keeping her information and changes?

    Hi there,

You cannot delete a user--you can only disable one, which prevents the user from loggin in.  This keeps the relationships that the user has with records in CRM.  To disable a user, select the user in the grid, and click disable on the ribbon.

    Hi Cloneil,

The user will only be disabled from the CRM organization and not be deleted. As far as all the customizations are concerned, form level customizations will be there but workflows wont work if created under that user login same is the case with plugins if you are passing the credentials of that user in the plugin code. Workflow will work once assigned to the new administrator user before you disable the current user.

    Hope this answers your query.

    Hi There,

User can't be deleted in CRM, they can only be disabled by clicking on the 'disable' button on top of the user form.

All the customization will remain there no worries for that but the workflows and other records(like lead, account etc.) which were created by the former administrator or were created automatically by some workflows owned by former admin; must be reassigned to the new admin user by clicking on the button 'reassign records' on top of the form.

    Hope it helps !!

The deletion of a user is intentionally kept restricted because we always want to have information of a user even he or she is not working with a company. The option here is to disable the user, meaning that it's always possible to enable the user giving back his previous access rights. The disabled user looses his all the access capabilities. Isn't it really good to disable a user rather deleting completely?

When you deactivate a user, the user will no longer be able to access the CRM account.

Users can't be deleted, they can only be disabled.

You should make sure to change the ownership on any workflows and duplicate detection rules if they are owned by your system administrator.
