Sample Order / Free Sample

Hi,

May I know the order processing of sample order in $0 amount on NAV 2013 R2?  Our company would usually issue the sample orders for offering the products in free.  This allows the client to return the products if they don't want to place the order after reviewing.  Is the standard order flow facilitating it?

Apart from the sample order in $0, we also offer some products in free on sales order.  Since we have implemented the credit limit control on the sales order based on the credit limit of customer, if we are going to send out the products with $0 amount to the client, the order needs to go through the approval process.  In such a case, the products with amount would also become available for delivery without credit limit control.  I would like to see the handling of NAV 2013 R2 for this case or customization is required if we would like to cater this issue in the operation flow.

Thank you for the kind advice in advance.

    Dear Alexander & Vishal,

Thank you for the kind replies.  According the information from our partner in Hong Kong, they didn't customize the workflow of sample orders.  Not sure the "Invoice for Sample Order" is related to approval workflow.  If it looks as the customization, I shall clarify it with my partner.

What country localization are you using? "Invoice for Sample Order" looks as a customization to me.

If so, and if you need to exclude the sample orders from the approval workflow, you can also go for small customization.

In standard workflow, we normally suggests to have 100% discount (Having Unit Price), so that customer understands that this is sample order..

"Invoice for Sample Order" function also seems customised in your case.

In theory, it's a work around solution to handle the $0 sales amount of sales order.  But we have customized the order processing to cater the sample order and found that it cannot align with the credit control.  Thus, I'm wondering the standard workflow of sample order on NAV and function of "Invoice for Sample Order" on the navigation panel.

You can enter the 100% in Line Discount % field to give the free samples. This is the only functionality available in NAV to cater the Free samples.

If you need some automation based on some calculation or approval, you need to go for customization.
