User with team license still able to create Opportunity

Posted on by

Is this a bug? I am assigning a team license to a user in the portal. His security role grants him access to create opportunities but I am assuming that the team license has a higher priority right? Alas, the user is still able to create opportunities. I am 99% it's a bug but can someone else verify this?

    Hi

Yes, as of now, there is no enforcement within CRM. For example, a user with limited license can access the feature not allowed for that license. So, it is your responsibility to give the right access, for that user according to the license.

But, in-app licensing enforcement is coming, and there are severe penalties for any organization that is not in compliance with the original Microsoft licensing agreement.

So you're telling me that it's the CRM admin's responsibility to grant the appropriate security roles to the users based on their license. Why? Because Microsoft is too lazy to impose the rules or they trust admins so much that they give us the chance to test our 'faith' and prove that we are playing by the rules?

This makes no sense whatsoever. It's absolutely crazy!

CRM does not restrict access based on the type of user license; access is only restricted by security roles - i.e. if a user has a Team Member license, but you add them to role that can create opportunities, then they will be able to create opportunities. It is your responsibility to grant permissions (via security roles), to ensure users adhere to the terms of their license.
