Receiving items to zones

Hello everyone.

Is it possible to receive items with Warehouse receipt just to zones, without registering anything to bins, because this zone doesn't have bins?

When I set up Location with fields Require receipt and Require shipment set to True, then I get error when  trying to select Zone code on Warehouse receipt with message "Directed put-away and pick must be selected...".

When I set Directed put-away and pick to True, fields Require pick and Require put-away are set to True automatically. This is not an option because I don't have bins, I am using zones (at least I have an idea to use them like this) to organize quality control process with three zones (QC, Accepted, Rejected), where bins won't be used.

    Hi,

You can not use Zones alone in the system without using "Directed put-away and pick" functionality.

Instead, you can create three different bins (QC, Accepted & Rejected) for your location. In this way, you can manage your requirements.

You can receive your inventory in QC bin. Later you can use the "Item Reclass. Journal" for the required movements between bins...

    Hope this helps.

Can Movement Worksheet be used for movement between bins in that case? I am looking for least complex solution. Item Reclass. Journal seems a bit complicated or I am wrong?

Item reclass. Journal would be simplest one. You just need to select Item, location, bin code, new bin code and quantity.

Movement journals can be used with Directed put away and pick functionality.

    Hope this helps.

Also, if you need solution to be kept simple, create 3 different locations (QC, Accepted, Rejected).

Receive your goods in QC location. Use reclass journal to move your inventory to Accepted or Rejected location.

Rejected location inventory can be sent back to vendor, if feasible. Accepted location inventory can be used further as needed.

In this way, it will reduce selection of Bin Code in further entries like sales order, transfer order, item journal or production order etc.

This depends on the exact need of the client.

    Hope this helps.
