Power App Solution Checker and Dynamics - Power Shell Help

Hi, first time post.

I'm using on-premise CRM and starting to move to the cloud. I am trying to use the Power Apps Solution Checker against my on-premise CRM environment. My understanding is that the Power Shell cmdlets will verify and provide feedback on the solution files and give recommendations for resolution.

I was directed by a Microsoft resource to these links - https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/automatically-validate-your-solutions-using-the-powerapps-checker-powershell-module/

I have also reviewed the examples given in the cmdlet itself by using the "get-help Invoke-PowerAppsChecker -examples" command. The examples do not show how to execute this cmdlet against the on-premise CRM environment, only how to send requests for solution checker to execute against the Power Apps cloud environments.

The blog above post says to come here if I need help, but I'm not sure I'm in the right place. Please let me know if there's a better place to ask this question or if you've come across this issue before, thanks!

    Hello,

    Thank you for your question.

The Power Apps Solution Checker is designed to validate solution files (.zip) from Power Apps cloud environments, and it does not directly support execution against on-premise Dynamics CRM environments.

    Key Clarifications:

    1. Cloud-Only Support
The Solution Checker runs in the Power Apps cloud service and requires the solution to be uploaded to a Dataverse environment. It does not connect directly to on-premise CRM instances.

    2. Recommended Workflow for On-Premise
To use the Solution Checker with on-premise CRM:

      • Export the solution from your on-premise environment as a .zip file.
      • Upload the solution to a temporary or sandbox Power Apps environment in the cloud.
      • Use the PowerShell cmdlet Invoke-PowerAppsChecker to validate the solution in that cloud environment.
    3. PowerShell Cmdlet Requirements
      Ensure you have:

      • Installed the PowerAppsChecker module.
      • Registered an Azure AD application with appropriate permissions.
      • Acquired a client ID, tenant ID, and secret to authenticate the cmdlet.
    4. Alternative Resources
For more targeted support, consider posting in:

      • Power Apps Community Forum
      • Microsoft Learn Q&A
      • Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Forum

Please verify if this response was helpful.
    Best regards.
