AX 2012 R2: folder XppIL stays empty

Hello,

we are just upgrading from AX 2012 to AX 2012 R2. All went well so far however the batch jobs for the data upgrade scripts didn't start. After some investigations I've found that the folder XppIL is empty (except a folder called "AppShare"). Normally it's contents is regenerated during the start of the AOS-service if this folder is empty. Not in our case. Even uninstalling the AOS, deleting the complete folder (under ...\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Server\) for the deleted AOS and then reinstalling the AOS didn't help. A complete CIL-generation results in some success messages and some error messages, mainly claiming that an assembly wasn't found what is clear because there are no. Additionally a folder "xml" is generated containing files named AppObjects[n].xml, [n] being a number counted upwards. Has anyone encountered a similar behaviour and has solved it already...?

Regards

Patrick

Did you complete the kernel compilation?

You say you are in the data upgrade part of this upgrade. Does that mean you've completed the code upgrade cycle? Did you manage to compile DEV without errors and generate CIL without issues?

You also need to set the modelstore in installmode when copying the code upgraded modelstore back to TEST.

As far as I know, the assemblies first needs to be generated, which will save them to SysXppAssembly. When the AOS starts, these assemblies will be written to disk under \Server\Instance\bin\XppIL.
