Microsoft Dynamics GP (Archived)

Not able to create new company.

Posted on by 110

Hi,

We are using Microsoft Dynamics 9.0. I am trying to create a new company by copying the existing company. I have refreshed teh test Great Plains from production wghich is a working copy. When trying o use utilities, I am getting error stating that someof the objects present in vba are not present in teh txt files of dynamics. If I click on Ok and continue creating company, after the company is created, I am getting error that database setup is not complete. I tried exporting all files from teh customisation maintanance from production and tried importing it to test environment, but there also I am getting error stating, unable to open customisation maintanance. I needed help from an expert. Can you please let me know how can I go forward in resolving the issue.

Regards,

Vishwanath

Have you followed the entire procedure highlighted in the KB871973 and KB872370 ? it is very important that you run the SQL scripts after the test DB restore against the new TEST company was created, otherwise you'll just get in trouble.

Your VBA error messages seem to be related to some customization that were done against either the FORMS.DIC or REPORTS.DIC files... Try to copy those directly from your production environment (after making a copy of the original one on the Test system), or even better copy the entire Dynamics GP client from the working production environment and make sure your DYNAMICS.SET and DEX.ini files have the proper path to point to the Test folder. I've created many TEST environment for GP in my Dynamics life and there is nothing very difficult if you follow the procedure step-by-step.

    Hope this helps...

I would try strarting over again. This time just install GP and then launch utilties. Then you could start adding one add-on after another. The last thing I would copy over is the DYNAMICS.VBA file. You have projects in there that do not exist on the test server. You need to isolate which add-on and/or project is causing the problem. As far database utilties, you can get some tips from this.

support.microsoft.com/.../915472 Some add-on is not matching.

    Hi,

Yes. All the mappings are pointing to the test environment.

You said, you have copied the files from live server to test server, so please cross check whether all the mappings(drive paths) are correct in the .set files.

    Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, as I was away on leave. We tried installing the Great Plains in Test environment and then copying all the files from production to test environment and replaced Dynamics.vba and Dynamics.set files. Once everything is done, we tried logging into GP Utilities and then we got error message stating that Nolans_Comuters_VAT_Reporting.vba project references some objects that cannot be found, these objects are listed in text file. If I ignore this message, then the same error comes to dynamics and If i ignore this and copy an existing company to a new company, once everything is done, I am not able to log in. Can you please let me know what might be the reason and how this can be solved.

    Vishwanath,

What tool are you using to copy the company? The VBA error is is not usually an error to track down. There should be a text file that tells you exactly which resource is missing. These errors are typically easy to fix.

Is your new company indeed created?

If you could give us a more detailed explanation of the steps you took to create your new company, I feel certain that someone on the group can resolve this.

    Kind regards,

    leslie

This would be a hard one to resolve without having access to your system (both the test and live enviornments).

    Best regards,

    Ian.
