Hi all,

I'm finding something about how to rework a item in AX 2012. That means, this production order are used for products needing repair or reworking.

Thanks in advance.

Phung Luong.

    Hey,

I realize that Production Order have no field "rework order" the same as "rework batch" in batch order.

Who can explain to me this difference ?

    Hi Phung Luong,

Rework functionality is only available on Batch orders (not Production / Works orders). This means you can only use it to rework Items which have Production type = 'Formula'.

You would just create a production order with no BOM and route, choose a production pool of "rework" or some other way to segregate/identify it and then build the BOM and route as the rework dictates. You could have standard rework BOM and routes at a rework warehouse.

    HI Steven,

That mean when I create a BOM for an item. I much create 2 BOM number. 1 BOM include standard material, 1 BOM have material is parent item.

When create a rework production order, just change BOM number.

Yes basically. You do not have to have a rework BOM and it can never be the only active BOM as Planning would hit a cyclical never ending loop.

    Hi Steven Weaver,

I choose rework order field is Yes in batch order. I perform step by step according material (reservation, route..), however only estimate is available. So I can not continuing with this batch order. Do you know the reason why?

Probably because of your status setup in your parameters. Estimate it and then move on, if you cannot check the status parameters settings.

In case normal production order you can select the BOM lines manually this is typically the finished product you need to re-work and any additional raw materials and use production pool to identify re-work order.

In case of batch order, you have the option to specify the batch order as re-work order
