Dependent Dropdown List in single field

Hi Everyone, 

I am trying to implement Cascade dependent dropdown list - I saw some community post but they all are using two fields. I am wondering if there is a way where we can group all categories and sub categories in one field. For example in Category field ( Option set ) if they choose fruits a list show up with sub categories like apple, banana and grape. 

Looking for some help and suggestions.
