I need to identify whether the updating of the record is done by a external portal user or dynamics CRM user. How can it done by a plugin.
Hi,
You can add a field to your entity. Add it to your form. Use some default values to tag the execution context. For example, if the record is created whithin the crm, a business rule will set a tag (fromCRM). In your plugin you can check the flag.

Thanks, i'll try that way , so every form in CRM should populate this flag right.
as a alternative if i check the modifiedby user and if it is SYSTEM then it should be done through portal right
You can also tag your record in portal form.
