Unable See Cost Price in Inventory Counting Journal

Hi Everyone,

I am facing a critical issue during inventory counting in AX 2012. I have done all the setups correct, the item is available in the inventory(On-hand) but when I do inventory counting the cost price is not showing in the inventory counting line.

Please suggest what could be the reason/issue that the cost price is not showing?

Regards..

Does the released product form show an inventory cost price for that item?

In your On-hand form, do you see a cost price associated with the site/warehouse you are trying to do counting for?

    1. On the release product I have not put any cost price, since the cost price is manually entered on the order line.

    2. Yes cost price is there on the On-hand form with respect to the warehouse.

There is a cost price associated with Inventory, and separate ones for Sales and Purchase. The inventory counting journal pulls in the Cost price value for the Inventory module associated with the product. The inventory model group drives how this cost price is calculated. Maybe you need to do an inventory closing for the item, then see if the cost price gets populated? Also you could manually set a value if required. Try it in a Test environment, and see if the counting journal line pulls in a price afterwards.

Since the cost price is changing after a while that's why I have not manually updated in the Item master.

What else could be done along with inventory closing to see cost price in the counting journal line?

What precautions could be taken in future so that cost price reflects in counting journal?

Also please guide about the preventive majors so that inventory cost price should be reflected in journals?

Can you please post screenshots for the following details to clarify?

    - Released product details > Manage costs fast tab > Prices (this is the cost price I was asking for whether it is populated, since this is pulled across to the counting journal)

    - Released product details > General fast tab > Item model group (view details) > Stock model fast tab (to see what inventory cost calculation settings you have)

Also have you done any Inventory closing for the item already, or is this a brand new item?

The issue has been resolved. Since there was no validation at the location level in storage dimensions. Due to this when a sales order with excess quantity was booked, the system was not showing any error for insufficient quantity at the location.

Please note: "All though in Item model group physical negative inventory was unchecked."

Example: A sales with 100 quantity and in the line details, a batch number is selected. Since this warehouse has got two batches available i.e. one batch is having 40 quantities and other is having 50 quantities.

Since the sale order quantity (i.e.quantity=100) is not sufficient with respect to the batch selected, system should through an error of insufficient quantity in that particular batch.

But, here system is taking 60 quantities from the second batch (which is having quantity=50).

Here the actual issue arises, the sales order is getting confirmed also allowing packing slip and finally invoicing is done without any error.

Since in all this sales order process, at time of packing slip system deducted extra 10 quantity from second batch which in result of negative physical on-hand quantity and because of this when we do inventory counting with respect to second batch cost price is showing zero.

Please suggest that is it a system default? All suggestions are highly commendable.

Even if you have Physical Negative Inventory unticked, you could still see this behaviour if 'Physical inventory' is not ticked on the 'Batch' line in the item's Tracking dimension group.

Thank you Guy. This is what I had been looking for exactly.
