Automatic recognition when typing customer name

Posted on by 5

Hi all,

I've been struggeling to get a hold onto a problem which we experience. In Navision it was possible to select a column to automatically search on that value. Since Business Central I can't seem to find any possibility to get this in the setup. Here is an answer from the same wuestion for Navision if it helps:

Automatic recognition when typing a customer name and items?

Verified

The default filter for customer is the primary key (Customer No). When typing the name, NAV will open the customer lookup filtered by No. Here, click on the Name column and now you can type as you want and the customer is retrieved (the filter is applyed by Name).

    Hello,

    Please have a look here:

If you want fields to be shown as a Lookup, it requires development.

    Thank you.

    Hi Mohana,

As far as I know this has been in standard Cronus, so I am not able to code that myself. As it has been possible to sort the values on a different column in NAV I've asked this question. It seems it doesn't recognise this anymore. As far as I'm aware this will be a functional issue, not a technical issue with links to code.

    Greetings,

    Marnix

Are you using Tablerelation property for field Plaats or any code in triggers?

If you set the TableRelation property then the dropdown will show.

Thanks for your answer Marco! This however does not solve the problem.

I think I might not have been clear.

What we want is an automatic recognition when typing in a name. This works with fields which uses the arrow down, which will show you a dropdown and where you can select a value. Just like this one: pastedimage1673364743704v1.png

But (this is my question) there is a dropdown menu avaible in the code, but won't show when typing if the record has three dots in there.

This won't allow you to type text and transform this to the right number which is needed.

    Hello,

Not sure if I understand the question completely, you can save a view in Dynamics 365 Business Central with the columns you need . Does that help you.

    Thank you.

    Hi Marco,

Thanks for your reply. I used this page, but this does not answer the the question how the filter can be set to a standard column.

    Kind regards,

    Marnix
