We are trying to appy a payment froma customer that has an (') in their name.  We are getting the following message:  "sql error script name getlastcashcreditcardguid : 102 {Microsoft}{sql server native client 10.0}{sql server} incorrect syntax near 's'".  The customer id is Maker's and name is Maker's Mark Distilling Co.

Has anyone else had any trouble with this?  Any suggestions?

Usually in SQL databases the (') is a reserved symbol and can not be part of a key field.   I would suggest changing the customer ID to not include the asterick.  There is a professional tools that can do this.

You can use the PSTL or since you probably have never been able to produce an invoice for this customer, you can mark this customer as inactive and enter a new customer this time do not put in the apostrophe in the customer ID. You would then create the invoice for this new customer ID and void out the other one.

It is possible to import the data whilst still keeping the (').  You will have the do a global find & replace, find all (') and replace it with  two (') .   Not " but ''.

SQL will replace all '' with ' and your data will be imported correctly

    Hi,

This is a known problem. You need to get that (') out of the ID. Fortunately, the PSTL tools are now free! Just change the ID to a new ID that does not include this character.

Keep in mind that the PSTL tool will not change any third-party data tables, so make sure all of the relevant tables are touched by the PSTL.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
