Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

Is there a way to capture the lead/contact URL in a field on the respective lead/contact form?

You can do it via a cloud flow.

Cloud flow will not show you a field/column called 'Record Dynamic URL' but you can generate the URL based on the Model driven App URL.

See the screenshot attached, step 1 will be your trigger and step 2 will be to update the URL field.

URL will be made of 3 components - The site + App ID + Record GUID

    Hope it helps!

    Hi Prashant!

What would this look like in the current landscape?

I am trying to replicate this, but obviously there are no more workflows and I can't find a way to get the desired result.

Sorry if it's a dumb question, I am a total Power Platform novice.

As LMP said, you can initially set the workflow as on demand and update your existing records.

Later you can have it for new records only by unchecking the on-demand check box

Set the workflow as an on demand workflow. Then select the records you want to update > workflow > select the workflow you created.

Thanks Prashant, this is what I was looking for. But is there a way to have this for all my existing leads/contacts apart from newly created ones?

Create a field of type single line of text with format = URL on lead/contact (I am calling it URL)

Now create a real time workflow

    Trigger when>>record is created

    Entity>>Lead or Contact

    Steps/Actions>>Update Lead/Contact>>Set properties>> URL = Record Dynamic URL

You can find it in the workflow designer right hand side selection/drop down

Thanks, but i am not a programmer or coder, is there a way to do this without a Java script?
