GP Licensing query

Hi all,

We are currently experiencing an issue where Microsoft has de-activated a module (Customisation Site Enabler). We only realised this when we purchased 10 additional user licenses and tested the new keys. There has been quite a bit of communication back and forth and the final response from Microsoft South Africa is that Customisation Site Enabler was disabled when Integration Manager - Financial was requested to be de-activated last year. I don't remember Integration Manager and Customisation Site Enabler being linked in any way and just need other knowledgeable input on this. We currently have customisations using this module and have not been able to implement the new keys for over two months now. The net result is that we have users at month end who are unable to work because we can't implement the additional user license keys.

I currently am under the impression that Microsoft is just that as an excuse because they can't get to the bottom of why this module was de-activated. Our GP VAR has also been useless in terms of fighting this case for us.

Thanks,

Ritesh

    Thanks Beat

That is a good idea and I will implement that approach going forward.

We really shouldn't have to though....MS should be making these sorts of changes easy!!

Just to add to Richard's suggestion...we did complete the change of partner form when we switched partners a few months back but the current partner says they cannot help! Anyway, we will be moving away from them soon....

    Re: GP Licensing query

Richard, the case of Ritesh isslightly different.... He doesn't want to change the MBS partner, but have his login linked to the new company / partner with who he's working now... I had a same problem when changing company, my Live-ID was associated with my former company... and I had to get added by the main account administrator that was linked to CustomerSource at the new company... In order to not get trapped again with this, I use now an inpersonated e-mail address as main contact for CustomerSource in a company that has GP... People change, system survive :-)...

It's much easier to change just a person's name in a profile than the e-mail / contact address that often is linked to the account...

Ritesh, I would suggest you create such e-mail address for the new company where you're working and be linked as the main account in Customer Source.

    Good luck.

    Re: GP Licensing query

That is not true. Ask your preferred reseller to provide you with a change of reseller form. The customer always chooses how will be their reseller. Fill out the form and send it to Microsoft and then you will be switched.

    Re: GP Licensing query

    Hi,

Nope no access to Customersource. Well I do have access, but my login is linked to my previous company. The current partner said that they can't change that and the previous partner will need to dis-associate me first.

I have just left it at that since I was able to access Knowledge base anyway.

Would you be able to assist with transferring my windows live account to my current employer?

    Re: GP Licensing query

OK, I am going to fire back a reply to sales operations telling me that ontacting itmbssup@microsoft.com  is useless because all the do is refer back to sales opeations. We know the keys are no good because they exclude Custimzation Site License. If you logged into CustomerSource and check you keys I am sure that is what you will see. You do have access to CustoerSource don't you, or did your Partner never set you up with access. If you do not have access let me know and I will get you access.

Well....it seems the ping pong continues for me as well.....just received an update from itmbssup saying that because it is product (GP) related, I need to log it through partnersource or customersource.

    Re: GP Licensing query

I'm reading thru this post and it all sounds to me like 'Deja Vu'... We lost our CRM licensing for some obscure reason 2 years ago and I gave to try to recover it, either thru our Partner or Microsoft's sales support... We had paid religiously our maintenance contract for GP and CRM for years and then all of a sudden the CRM dropped from the plan, but nobody noticed. I've tried to get it back for more then a year, but gave up from the many ping-pong actions between me, the partner and MS.

    Good luck :-)

    Thanks Richard,

This clears up one aspect - MS SA were just trying to get us off their back about this!!

I will contact the email address provided and hopefully they can resolve this directly now.

Thanks for all your input and help guys!

    Ritesh

    Re: GP Licensing query

This just came in from sales operations:

Thank you for your recent inquiry. For the customer 3071965, Multichoice Africa Limited, it does not show that Integration Manager was a prerequisite for Customization Site License. If the customer is experiencing functionality issues with the keys, they can email itmbssup@microsoft.com for further assistance in testing the keys.
