However after installing GP2013 Utilities fails. DUinstall details effectively the 8 GP options installed are not supported.

0 from version 11.0.2248
258 from version 11.0.2250

309 frim version 11.0.2255

Could go on.  Pointers please on how to move on from this impasse.

Thanks

Michael

    Hi MB,

What version of SQL you are in, GP 2010 can run on SQL 2008 but not GP 2015 check if you are in SQL 2008 / R2. I am sure you would have check the system requirements. You need to be in SQL 2012 and above for GP 2015.

    Hope this helps.

Cowmaster's blog post recommended in Romryan's tip above will remove all Fixed Asset Data - it says this in the post, but I thought it prudent to point this out.

With regard to fixed assets (309). The following link really helped me.

Yep this is on a test bed server - the plan is to check all our customisation still works within 2015 once we get there!

Tried with multiple versions of both GP2010 and GP2013.  Starting from GP2010 SP4 (11.00.2248) going to GP2013 (12.00.1295),

Tried you suggestion as well of installing GP2010 then GP2013 and then adding latest GP13 service pack, still getting the same errors.

Product 0 does not support upgrading from version 11.0.2248

Product 258 does not support upgrading from version 11.0.2250

Product 309 does not support upgrading from version 11.0.2255

And more (effectively all Dynamics modules that are installed).

    RE: GP2010 Upgrade failure

I would ask about the GP 2010 version you're trying to upgrade.  There was considerable hub-bub a few weeks ago about the 2014 Year-End update patch for GP 2010 and GP 2013 being applied causing this error, and Microsoft not having a 2015 version that was ready to upgrade from this recent update.

As an aside, I notice from time to time end users and partners attempting upgrades in situ.  My preference is to always provision a virtual machine as part of this process, which allows for a test environment to attempt the upgrade in.  I would recommend against attempting upgrades in situ, as even with back ups, getting GP back up and running is a time-consuming process, when everything goes right.

    RE: GP2010 Upgrade failure

First place to start is what was the exact version of GP2010 you are currently able to run on the system.   I ask it this way, as I am assuming you have a backup not only of the databases but of the operational client code on the machine which you are doing the update from.

FIrst thing to do is restore your backups - both database and code.  With this done I would ensure you have SP5 (last one) for GP2010 up and running - may mean another update, but it will be better than failing on the first step.

Second, once that is done, you install the GP2013 Code, then install (without running utilities) the latest GP2013 patch - it should be the one that results in 11.00.2351.  Once this patch is installed, run the UTILITIES to update everything to this level.

I know it says you can do GP2010 to GP2015 directly, but I am a little bit sceptical of that and so I counsel to stop at GP2013 and see that it runs at that point.

Make another full backup - databases and client code - then trudge on to GP2015.  Check online for the latest SP for 2015 and be sure you have that installed prior to running UTILIITIES.

Others may suggest you can 'hunt and peck' the rebuild, but, I have tried it that way many times and failed.  If you miss one record it all fails.  This way - takes longer - but you get to the point you want.

    Hope this helps.
