Microsoft Dynamics 365/Dashboards

Dear Microsoft Support Team,

I am a user of Microsoft Dynamics 365. I am writing to inform you about a problem I am facing while attempting to grant access to a user for viewing dashboards in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform.

As part of our business operations, we use Microsoft Dynamics 365 to manage and analyze our data. Recently, I was tasked with giving access to a specific user, [User's Name], so they can view and interact with certain dashboards relevant to their role. However, despite my efforts, I have encountered difficulties in completing this task.

I have followed the usual steps for granting access to dashboards within Microsoft Dynamics 365, but it appears that something is preventing me from successfully providing access to the mentioned user. The steps I followed include:

  1. Navigating to the /Security/ or /User Access/ settings within the Dynamics 365 Admin Center.

  2. Searching for and selecting the user, [User's Name], to whom I wish to grant dashboard access.

  3. Assigning the appropriate roles and permissions that should enable dashboard viewing.

Despite performing these steps, [User's Name] has reported that they are still unable to access the required dashboards, and the necessary data remains inaccessible to them. I have double-checked the user's account settings and permissions, and they seem to be in order.

As this is a critical issue for our team's efficiency and productivity, I kindly request your assistance in resolving this matter as soon as possible. Please guide me through any additional troubleshooting steps I should take or provide insights into any possible configuration issues that could be causing this problem.

If you need any further information, such as the version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 we are using, the user's account details, or any other relevant data, please let me know, and I will be more than happy to provide it.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I appreciate your prompt support in resolving this access issue.

Best regards,

    Dear Microsoft Support Team,

I hope this email finds you well. As an administrator, I have a few questions regarding access permissions for dashboards and Microsoft 365. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in providing clarification on the following matters:

    1. Dashboard Access:

      • As an administrator, do I have the ability to access and manage all dashboards within our organization, even if I didn't create them myself?
      • Is it possible for me to grant or restrict access to specific dashboards for other users or teams?
    2. Microsoft 365 Access:

      • As an administrator, would I have full access to Microsoft 365, including all user accounts and associated data?
      • Are there any limitations or restrictions on the level of access that an administrator has within Microsoft 365?

I am looking to understand the level of control and access I have as an administrator in order to effectively manage and monitor the organization's resources. Any information or guidance you can provide on these matters would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to your response.

    Best regards,
    [mohamad]

    Hi,

Regarding your question about not being able to access the Dynamics 365 Sales dashboard

Have you assigned permissions to the relevant entities? For example, activities, opportunities, leads, etc.
If the security role you have assigned to the user does not have the permissions for the above table, the user will not be able to access the dashboard properly.

Here is the test from our team.

Assigning security roles but not assigning related entity permissions

Assigning security roles and assigning related entity permissions

Note that this is only a test of the assigned permissions, the details of the assigned permissions will need to be determined by your business.

In addition, if you need to modify the permissions of an existing security role, or customize a security role, you can refer to the following official Microsoft documentation.
Create or edit a security role to manage access - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn

I hope my answer is helpful to you! If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

    Best Regards,
    Rudy Zhang
