Modified Report - Check Format

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We recently created a new check format in report writer.  This report was created in our test environment, so I exported the report, and then successfully imported the report into our production company via the Customization Maintenance screen.  Now that the report is within the production company, what are my next steps to have this new check format available to select on the "Payables Management Setup" screen.

    Hi gbremer.

At this point, I'm going to let you know the cheapest and most reliable thing you can do if you have custom check formats.

Mekorma is used by most companies running Dynamics GP - in that program you can highly customize your checks, set signature, limits, securities around checks, etc.

Here is a link to their website:  www.mekorma.com/.../micr-check-printing.aspx

Other than that, you'll need to contact your GP partner to find someone who can customize this for you - this one can be complex which is why I suggest Mekorma - it's an already written and tested app.

Take a look at it.  So sorry that I can't give you a better recommendation - it's possible someone on here has another customization written or can write one, but I 100% don't recommend that as customizing GP with custom written code can greatly impact the ability to maintain and upgrade your system.

You are correct.  I wrote a custom report.  Is the customization needed to use it int he Payables module a straightforward process?

    Good Afternoon,

It looks like you may have written a custom report as opposed to modifying the existing GP Check formats - if that is the case you will need a customization to assign it as the default or use it in the Payables Module.

If you modified one of the existing check formats you will simply go to Administration>System>Alternate and Modified Forms and Reports  - open the modified forms ID for whichever users will need it and then select that form as the modified version.
