    Hi SGupta,

What is the use of this environment? It is possible to configure the VM so that others in your company network can access the D365FO.

There are no official configuration requirements for VM, but at least quad-core 16GB memory is needed.

Or you can try deploying cloud development environment.

    Hi Will Wu,

    Thanks for reply.

I needed to install d365 fo for R&D work for our internal project.

least quad-core 16GB memory is needed.? what do you mean ? is this VM configuration or Server configuration.

What are components required if i do d365 FO installation on premises.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi SGupta,

I am referring to the configuration for the VM. To see the deployment requirements for the D365FO local environment, you can refer to the documentation:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../system-requirements-on-prem

    Hi SGupta,

if you set up local onebox VM for development purposes, that's not an "on-premises" environment.

"On-premises" environment refers to multi-box Tier2+ system that runs on ServiceFabric. For that you will need to buy D365FO on-premises licenses, and have On-premises Implementation project in LCS. You can never use these on-premises environments for development.

For local dev VMs there are no documented minimum requirements, but you should have fast hard disks (preferably SSD) and at least 16-24 GB RAM.

For the on-premises implementation just follow Microsoft Documentations,

    Refer: docs.microsoft.com/.../on-premises-deployment-landing-page

But for the R&D I think Development VM will be enough, Just download, extract and mount it on Hyper v you are good. I've run VM on My laptop (Core i5 ) with 16 GB RAM, it is manageable, with 24 to 32 GB with SSD it will work even better.
