Cannot open web application projects in AOT after CU9 upgrade

We recently just upgraded our AX 2012 development environment to CU9 and now, when I choose "Edit" on my web application project located AOT\Visual Studio Projects\Web Application Projects\MyProject I get this error:

The imported project "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v11.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" was not found. Confirm that the path in the <Import> declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk. C:\Users\denpmp\AppData\Local\Temp\2\Microsoft Dynamics AX\Web Application Projects\MyProject\MyProject.csproj

I've scouted throughout the web and everywhere says that you can change the MSBuild argument, but I can't even open my project, then how am I suppose to change this value and also where do change it?

Have to mention that we're using TFS with AX.

Has anyone come across this issue and how to solve it? I've tried to create a new web application project and added this one to the AOT, but that didn't helped.

We are using AX 2012 R3 CU9 and Visual Studio Professional 2013 v12.0.31101.00 Update 4

Hi, there is a hotfix in KB2963507 related to opening VS projects, I don’t know it fits your case.

Yes. The problem is the target framework for the project which back in the days was .NET Framework 3.5. This has to be changed to .Net Framework 4.5.1 in CU9. To do this follow these steps:

    1. Open Visual studio.

    2. Go to the Application Explorer and locate your project. Should be something like Application Explorer --> Visual Studio Projects --> Web Application Projects --> MyProject.

    3. Right click and choose "Edit". This should open your visual studio project that was causing the error when opening from the AOT.

    4. In Solution Explorer, right click the project and choose "Properties".

    5. In the Application tab, you should see the field "Target framework" in the middle somewhere. Changes this to ".NET Framework 4.5.1".

    6. Go back to Solution Explorer, right click your project again and this time choose "Add <MyProject> to AOT".

    7. Close everything and restart the Dynamics Services.

This should do the trick otherwise go to the AOT\Visual Studio Projects\Web Application Projects\<MyProject> right click on it and choose "Restore".
