Hi mchristensen_emt,
Can you confirm which page you're trying to update the Exchange Rate on? If you are doing it on the Currencies list page, then you're doing it wrong. That page shows the prevailing exchange rate that applies to current transactions (if you are using the Yahoo or another exchange rate service, it should be today's date).
There is an underlying page for each currency, which shows a full list of historical exchange rates by date. Let's say, you want to set an exchange rate for CAD to USD that was applicable for January 1, 2015 (and USD is your company's operating currency), select the CAD row in the Currencies list, then click the "Exch. Rates" icon in the ribbon. This opens up a worksheet page, and here you will see all the historical rates stored in Dynamics 365 for Financials for CAD to USD. Depending on how long Yahoo Exchange Rate has been enabled, you may see a few or a lot of records here.
Go to the last empty row, and type in 1/1/15 in the Starting Date field, CAD in the Currency Code field, and fill in the rest of the applicable fields.
When done, click out of that row and now your record is saved. You can close this window.
When you are importing beginning AR invoices and one of them references a date of 1/1/15, it will use the exchange rate you created for that date. And if the next Exch. Rate record for CAD to USD has a Starting Date of 1/1/16, all beginning AR invoices between 1/1/15 and 12/31/15 will use the exchange rate you set with 1/1/15 Starting Date.
I hope this helps. If my response has answered your question, please verify by clicking Yes next to "Did this answer your question?"
