Show out of stock items in inventory pick

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

When I enter up a sales order then create an inventory pick for the warehouse, it only shows the items that are in stock - but I'm worried that the warehouse then won't realise there was more than that on the order and it will be missed or delivered very late when someone notices.

is there a way that it can show them even if they can't actually be shipped out yet?

Thanks!

RE: Show out of stock items in inventory pick

    Hi Threea,

just for the completeness of this issue, I would like to tell how we solved it.

We added some info on the Work order report that can be printed from the sales order. For each line on it, we print the pick lines under it. We also print the balance between the outstanding quantiy on the sales line and the total of the pick lines.

This report was added to the inventory pick page, so becore collecting the items, they print the report and they can see the missing items on the pick.

Depending on the situation they can continue doing a pick for the available quantity and adding a pick or pick lines for the quantities that were not on the pick yet.

    Hello Francis,

Sorry to be so long replying.  No, we didn't find a good solution to this, so in the end we changed our internal process so the person creating the pick must first run 'Planning' on the sales order to identify any missing goods.

We haven't come across the second issue, however all I can think of is have you checked the 'qty to ship' on the lines outstanding to be shipped?

    Hi Jonathan,

what you are talking about is the requisition worksheet or the planning worksheet.

The issue we are talking about is in the sales part of the application.

You enter a sales order, from the sales order you create an inventory pick.

From there, you have the scenario I described.

    kr,

    hi,

goto the item card --> fast tab planning. there you can set the reorder-policy and the reorder-point parameters. try the reorder-policy "Fixed Reorder Qty." result: if the inventory quantity of that item is less than the min. value an automatic order is created.

    Hi Threeea,

I was wondering if you came to a good solution for this one. I am having the same issue.

I can't even find a way to add items to the pick, once they arrive. Also creating a second pick didn't give me anything.

In my scenario, I sold 5 pieces, and only 2 pieces were available. Later on, the 3 pieces are produced, so I can ship the whole order. When i execute the function 'get source documents' from the pick, or I execute 'Create inventory pick' from the sales orders, I get 'there is nothing to create' or 'there is nothing to handle'.

There is a option available in sales order called  Shipment Advice. you can set either partial or complete. if you select as complete, this sales order cannot be posted with partial shipment. But the drawback is if you have real scenario to ship partial, it will not work.
