CRM User Mapping from different Server and Domain

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi there,

I have a client running CRM 2011 who's SQL database needs to be updated to CRM 2013 standards all the way to 2016 step by step by using CRM Deployment Manager.

I'm running SQL Server 2012 R2, and SQL Server 2014.

The client gave me a copy of the SQL Database in order for me to backup and restore it and upgrade it to CRM 2013 Standards.

The problem I have is when I am using the CRM Deployment Manager and I follow the steps according to the following link:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh127042(v=crm.6).aspx ,

the Deployment Manager does not pick up any of the users for User Mapping.

Please advise to how I can fix this.

There is 1400+ users in the database table.

Can it be that the users aren't mapping because they are not on the AD Server?

Check if there are any users in SystemUserBase table, maybe the bakcup you received is corrupted.

    Please find attached the captures:

There is only one user on the AD and that user was used to install CRM.

    Hi Julien,

Thank you for the quick response.

No I am not on the same AD System.

I have created a Administrator role on the AD but it still does not show on the CRM Deployment Manager's User Mapping.

    Hello,

Are you on the same Active Directory system ?

Because the users are directly linked to the Active Directory.

So if you try to restore your database on a different AD, it's normal to loose the users.

    Regards,

    Julien Miquel
