Block item for new Quote/SO but honor old Quote/SO

Hi

In our industry we issue quotes and then we receive PO for those quotes in 3~6 months. We have to honor those quotes and we cannot make any change to them (because of insurance related documents).

We want to stop new sale for a few items but we have to honor old quotes. What is your suggestion here? We want to prevent CS team to create new Quote/SO for these items by mistake

If we block items for Sales in item card then we cannot honor old Quotes or ongoing SO (cannot ship them because of block).

Does BC provides any other method to block item from new Quote/SO but let us process//ship old Quote/SO?

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

I don't see this as an issue. The "Sales Blocked" feature is only checked on the surface of user processing - so for example if I enter an item which is blocked for sales I get an error. However, if you process an item which is blocked for sales -  so in your scenario the blocking is retrospective to the processing - then it will post. No warehouse checks take place with that field. Only a check on entry, by a user, in the item journal takes place. Good to go from what you have described and what I have tested/reviewed

    Hi Josh

Thank you for your response. We do not use warehouse models. All we do is create SO and ship it. I tried your suggestion and got the following error at the time of shipping

Just to make sure I followed your guideline correctly

    1) I created SO with one item.

    2) I blocked that item for Sales in Item Card.

    3) Went back to SO and the enter QTY in QTY to Ship then tried to Post -> Ship

    4) Got the following error.

    Am I missing anything?

    Thanks again

The source code I checked was before v18. Is that your current version? If so a check must be made against it in which case a modification would be needed to bypass the problem. Something like being able to log the date of when the item was marked as "Sales Blocked" and then adding a step before the error check to determine if the date is ok for the SO. This is providing the error can be bypass with an event subscription. You may want to lean on your Microsoft partner to get this work completed.

    Hi Josh

Thanks for info. Yes we are in BC 18. I will work with our partner over customization.
