Dynamics GP10 install failure due to SQL Server Setup

I have been trying to download the Microsoft Dynamics GP 10 to my computer for my accounting class.  I'm using a Windows 7 computer.  After putting the DVD for the install in, the Component Installation is successful.  However, when I get to the install process, after I click the "Install" button a message comes up saying the SQL Server Setup unexpectedly failed.  It tells me to read about the error in the LOG summary, however that Summary.txt file does not appear to exist on my computer.  Does anyone have some insight on how I might fix this issue and complete the install?

Here is a screenshot of the error messages I received.  The one on the left is the first message, and after I click the "OK" button, the Error message box on the right appears. postimg.org/.../en0yzym5j

    I might suspect a failure in the SQL Server Setup, you could simply uninstall SQL Server, and ensure a successful SQL Server Setup.

    Review the reference below for a step by step installation helps;

    Install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and SQL Server Management Studio Express?

    Have you installed SQL Server?

    I do not think I have downloaded an SQL Server in the past.  I've been looking through the Microsoft downloads but I am not sure which SQL Server 2005 to download since I am new to these items.  I also read that I need to download a .NET Framework 2.0  to get an SQL Server to work.  What items would you  recommend that I download?

    You could download SQL Server 2005 Express Edition on the path below,

    Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition

    For a step by step illustration on the Installation of SQL Server Express, check the link I provided above.

    Thank you very much for your help.  The SQL Server 2005 Express Edition apparently wasn't compatible with my computer.  However, I was about to download the SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3.  I now have access to the LOG Summary.txt file.

    When I tried running the install DVD again for Dynamics GP10, I received the same install failure error message that I posted a screenshot of in my original post.  Is the SQL Server not communicating properly with the install or my computer?  Maybe there is something I might not have installed yet that should be?  Should I consider calling someone from Microsoft Support at this point?

    Step 1 here would be to make sure SQL is running. Go to Start->Programs->Microsoft SQL Server2005->SQL Server Management Studio. Can you log in as 'sa'?

    Step 2 GP 10 does not create the DSN for you. This is how GP talks to SQL. You probaly have a 64 bit computer so go to C:\Windows\SYSWOW64 and run ODBCAD32.exe. Create a DSN called GP10 and test it. Then when you launch GP use this DSN name. This link will guide you through the steps.

    Apparently I am still missing a step or haven't downloaded something necessary to get the SQL Server 2005 on my computer.  The folder "Microsoft SQL Server2005" under Start->Programs is not  listed.  I revisited trying to download the "SQL Server 2005 Express Edition" which was previously recommended in the comments above.  However I receive a message about a program compatibility error (probably because I use a Windows 7 computer) and the suggested solution is:

    "After SQL Server Setup completes, you must apply SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 (SP3) or a later service pack before you run SQL Server 2005 on this version of Windows."

    The "SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3" successfully installed onto my computer.  Yet I cannot get the "SQL Server 2005 Express Edition" to install.  Is there any SQL Server that is compatible with a Windows 7 computer?

    Why are you using GP 10 on a W7 64 bit computer? GP 2013 is the latest version which supports SQL Server 2008 R2 or SQL Server 2012. I would suggest downloading GP 2013 and then install either of those two versions of SQL.
