    RE: Dynamics crm connection string

The way to do this is to use CRM Deployment Manager, and Import the Organisation Database.

    Hi

You shouldn't have to manually set the connection string for the database, the connection string will be updated by the Import Process.

Since you have already restored the database, one step is already completed.

The Next Step is to do the Organisation Import, please follow the steps described in these links

Please make sure the AD account you are using to import the Org is a Domain Admin account or an AD account that has permissions to create/update AD OUs

    Hi Adel,

As suggested above , the actual process is to do organization import pointing to the DB using Deployment manger after restore the CRM organization database.

However for your information you could find the DB connection string in  REGEDIT configuration in the front end server , so you can navigate to registry editor in the front end server and go to -  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM.

You can find the the database details in the Organization table.

    RE: Dynamics crm connection string

    Hi ,

This is because from the front end server DB connection has broken. When you clone server its nothing but copying everything to the new server , in that case your server is changing which means the new server still trying to connect OLD DB server with the same AD user . You can try to change the registry path  from config key which I shared my above post . Also try to  open "Organization" table from database and update the database server name. You might need to change the server name as well by going to SQL.

From my experience clone server is not a good way ,  try to  do organization import by taking DB backup in new server with fresh CRM installation.

Thank you so much for your help,

Please note that i have 2 new servers. one for the SQL and reporting and one for the CRM application.i finished the DB backup on the SQL server for the CRM databases. If we do a fresh installation so i have to move the process and the security roles and the JAVAscript customization and the workflows , etc..!! for that we did clone the server and we need to connect it to the NEW SQL server

    RE: Dynamics crm connection string

You dont need to move the process ,security roles , JAVAscript customization, workflows  separately. Those will come automatically when you do organization import in the new server,  thats why you need to take organization DB back up to restore in new server  -

Take a look below article  -

You need to fix those places manually , DB and registry mentioned above post.
