Hi

We are implementing D365 Advance warehouse management to a client.

The client is form a chemical industry background and we are performing following operations within the warehouse,

  • Purchase Receive and Putaway
  • Transfers through warehouse mobile app
  • Sales order processing -  (Pick & Put), Pack and shipment confirmation from the warehouse mobile app.
  • Customized Label printing through Warehouse mobile app.
  • scanning of the Items/Batches/Locations/License Plates etc.

So as we are implementing newly, could you please suggest some appropriate Mobile Scanners & Label Printers based on your past experience (or) from your recent implementation experience which goes well with D365 advance warehouse management.

I have searched myself about Zebra Scanners & Printers and Honeywell Scanners but not sure which model would be best/appropriate.

Could you please share your suggestions on the brand and model for scanners and printers, as this will be very much helpful for us to choose the right device.

    Hello,

I would greatly appreciate your suggestions regarding our situation. We operate a Retail Super Market in Australia and are currently in the process of migrating our core application from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to D365. As part of this transition, we need to utilize the D365 Advanced Warehouse app. Presently, we are using Zebra TC52K PDAs. However, due to availability and cost concerns, we are exploring alternative device options that would seamlessly integrate with the D365 Warehouse App.

Here are the options I am considering (though please bear in mind that I am new to D365, so your guidance is valuable for me):

    1) Exploring the possibility of using an affordable Android mobile device in combination with an attached ring scanner (with a budget ranging from A$300 to A$500 for the mobile device and the scanner itself being separate). It is essential that the device supports 4G/5G services, as we have some areas in the warehouse or stores with weak signal coverage. Additionally, we are interested in devices with detachable batteries or power pack battery options for potential future replacements with reliable repairing services in Sydney

    2) Investigating alternative devices that are more cost-effective compared to Zebra (with a budget ranging from A$500 to A$800).

If option 1 is the preferred choice, I would greatly appreciate your recommendations regarding the specific mobile device that we should consider.

If option 2 is the optimal route, please suggest alternative devices that we can compare to Zebra.

Thank you in advance for your expertise and assistance.

    Hi,

the best devices you can use are Zebra ones.

I put my hands everyday on Zebra VC80x, Zebra VC8300, Zebra DS3608, Zebra MC3300, Zebra MC3300X, Zebra ZD621, Zebra ZT411 ... all this device are able to be managed with SOTI application.

For any further question, feel free to reply.

    Hi All,

Could you please suggest some Warehouse Scanners that are of Tablet type which goes well with D365 advance warehouse management.

Because as part of our implementation we are planning to go with Tablet kind of scanners, any suggestions for that please ?

    Thanks for your response.

"Either the pallet, container, cage, whatever, has a permanent Id attached to it (which is re-used)"

    - Yea you are right we are planning to re-use these pallets.

Also there are some pallets pasted with labels in the outbound dock, where the items will be shipped along with the pallets to the customers.

I couldn't find any process within D365 advance warehouse management to print these kind of Pallet/LP labels in advance but I might be missing something as well.

But If it is not possible, may be we might need to customize or use some other software for this.

I think you are correct in both cases. Either the pallet, container, cage, whatever, has a permanent Id attached to it (which is re-used), or you are printing LP labels which are temporarily assigned to the pallet during receipt or picking. And I do not believe FO offers a way to print these LP labels in advance (but I hope I am wrong), so you are often printing off reels of them in advance using some other software.

    Hi

@Alice Barendregt - Thanks for your suggestion.

GuyUK - Thank you very much for the LinkedIn post, it will be very helpful.

Quick question related to label printing which is required to be pasted on the pallet, Like in D365 do we have the possibility to configure and print these kind of labels,

To explain my question further with an example,

    1. When we receive an item, the system asks us to scan a license plate (This LP can be generated automatically or it can also entered manually based on the setup from Mobile Menu item).

So when it asks us to scan a License plate during the receiving process, I assume that there is an empty pallet with a Pre-printed label pasted on it and the worker will scan this label to capture the License plate number and then the items will be loaded on this pallet ?

    2. Also during the outbound process, after we have done picking, the system asks us to enter a target license plate, I believe there is an empty pallet with a pre-printed label pasted on it and the worker will scan this label and place the picked items on this pallet and then move the pallet to the "Put" location.

    Is my understanding correct ?

Something like this to be generated on ad-hoc basis and paste it on the pallet,

For scanners, the only requirement that MSFT stipulate relates to the OS:

The only requirements are of the operating system:

    • Windows 10

    or

    • Android (5.x or later)

    iOS is not currently supported.

Take a look at this recent LinkedIn post which includes the makes / models most commonly in use today.

    Hi Sathish,

Regarding the scanners I have used the Zebra TC21t and the Honeywell CK 65 during previous implementations. Both work fine. However, regarding the scanners I would advice you to think about what also the warehouse worker preference is. Especially the Zebra TC21t looks more like a smartphone where users are already used to when they use their own mobile phone as well. On the other hand the Honeywell CK 65 is more robust. Both work fine but as I mentioned think about the environment where these scanners needs to be used and also the preference of the warehouse workers.

Regarding the label printers I think you have a bunch of options. But if you are looking for a specific type I think it was the Zebra ZT230 we used during an implementation a couple of months ago to generate the container labels/wave labels and carrier labels in the DC.

    Hope the above helps.
