KB982484 install breaks RMS

Hi

Here because I am in the process of upgrading my RMS (database location) PC from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Till this week, I had RMS 2.0 at v 2.0.105 without issue for 11 years!

An alternative test PC with a clean install of Windows 10, SQL 2017, SMSS 18 and Store Operations allows me to install FP1, SP4, FPS2 and the latest hot-fix without issue.

However, now I would like to upgrade a POS client (also v 2.0.105) on Windows XP Pro. However following the install of the first update FP1, the SO Administrator UI goes haywire. It may be best if an image helps explain this:

Has anybody experienced this? I am wary of reinstalling the POS client software, not because of re-activating, but because of custom templates I'm not confident of restoring.

I have the same question (0)

Hi Richard, I did a search of our support tickets for the last 4 years and found no reports of a similar issue. Not sure if it helps, but the order of how the hot fixes, service packs, and CU's are installed may be related? See this forum thread for discussion: community.dynamics.com/.../270020

    Hi Kevin

Thanks for your reply. I might point out that I need to correct something. My RMS was at version 2.0.0105, not 2.0.105 as I mentioned above. Which means I was (still am) at the initial release version.

According to my research (below), I needed to install FP1, SP4, FP2 and the latest hot-fix:

However FP1 breaks the POS client so I don't proceed further. Not sure what is going on with the client, but I can say at this stage I have:
Windows 10 1909, RMS 2.0.0105 (SQL database location)
Windows XP Pro (client), RMS 2.0.0105

As of today, the database is happily loading on the client, so I dare not bother working this out. Clearly something is going wrong on the client, but again, not keen to reinstall.

    Hi Richard,

Unfortunately, we do not have access to Windows XP Pro to test this as Windows XP is no longer supported.

If you decide to update this machine to a supported operating system, and are wanting assistance in getting your custom templates copied over, the number to contact Microsoft for RMS support is 1-888-477-7877.

Please note that mainstream support for Microsoft Dynamics RMS 2.0 ended on July 10, 2016; and extended support ends on 7/13/2021:

This is around 18 months from now; and you can continue using RMS after this date but technical support will not be available.
