Hello All,

I tried without success - looks like missing some basic pre-conditions. Appreciate any pointers.

1.How do we update the form layout from a 2 Column layout to a 3 Column layout to help add Sub grids in the 3 rd column. Any pre-conditions or dependencies to be met?

2. In order to add related Custom Entities in Account Main form as Sub Grids similar to Contacts/Opportunities in the out of the box - What are the steps and pre-conditions to be met?

Hi Harihar,

Here is the answer for your questions.

1). First go to the form editor. Then select the "Tab" or "Section" in which you are going to add Subgrid.

Then click the change "Change Properties" option. One dialog Box will appear. In that dialog box go to "Formatting" Tab. There you can change the Column layout.

2). Create 1:N relationship from Account to Custom Entity. Then open Account entity form editor, Click the insert Tab -->click on the sub grid icon.

It will open a dialog. In the "Data Source" Section, Select "Only Related Records" for the field "Records" and then select the entity in the "Entity" field.

After finishing all the steps "Save" and "Publish" the form.

Hi Saravanakumar,

Thank you for your response. I tried the above steps before posting my question - as I mentioned there seems to be pre-conditions in the configuration steps that I missed.

Harihar,

For number 1, have you managed to convert the form layout to 3 layout?

If you have tried but no luck, try to Insert again like the above picture

And here is the property if you want to convert from Layout 2 to Layout 3 columns

If you have any problem, better you click insert Tab -> 3 columns again and put your subgrid, then the rest, you need to move your section + component.

Anyway, to drag it out, to make it moved, you need to see until there is a box with RED colored, it is a RED squared block, otherwise, you will not make it.

And for number 2, you can insert subgrid and then choose the related custom Entity like Saravana suggested.

If you want to see the example, you can go to the Contact/Opportunity subgrid property and see what they are using to check the properties

Thank you Aileen for the detailed instructions. I will follow the steps and update the results.

Second part: I carried out exactly the steps from the following video -

For some reason expected sub grid did not get inserted. (save /publish etc., nothing is missed out). I will start fresh and do it again. I am using a trial online 2013 version.

Harihar,

Somehow it is problem of your browser.

you might try another browser, and yes, there is an issue I found if you want to insert subgrid to 1 column layout I think, forgot which one I encountered.

Hope you can manage this.

Hi Aileen, Thank you for your feed back on the browser. I was doing on a Mac /Chrome. Will try on Firefox or IE windows OS.

I used Internet explorer 8 and successfully able to modify /update without any issues. I will close the issue as resolved. It is a browser issue - Chrome seems to have some limitations.
