Position Sequence number is not getting incremented for new position

Hi All,

I am unable to create new position as the auto-generated 'position number' is stuck at a number .

It should get incremented with every new position created, though we have the maximum number sequence up to 999999.

In the number sequence its showing next number is 001503 and that is right  but it is stuck at 001502..

Thanks in advance.MicrosoftTeams_2D00_image-_2800_3_2900_.png

    Hi Rajat,

Have you tried cleaning the number sequence status field in the number sequence form?

The number 1502 might be stuck there.

Alternatively, can you increase the next number to 1503 in the number sequence form?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello Rajat Agarwal,

Have you checked in the status list of this number sequence if any record is showing there or not?

Below screen shots have taken from D365 for your understanding.

if yes; can you please press Alt + F9 from the keyboard and delete this record.

After that you can also follow below steps in order to fix it.

--- Change the next 'Next' number to some other number. For example; change the next number from 1 to 2.

--- System will show you below popup message. Click on yes.

--- Then remove the tick mark from the 'Continuous' check box too. System will show you same popup message as above. Click on yes.

--- Then bring back the original next number from 2 to 1.

--- Set the continuous check box enabled again.

Now check if the issue get resolved or not.

    Best regards,

RE: Position Sequence number is not getting incremented for new position

Actually what happens is in our situation we have created a record with number sequence  position 001502 and when i am trying to create new position its catching the same number 001502 and the next number in number sequence form is showing as 001503.

As we have created record using 001502 ,now the next position should it should show 001503 and in the number sequence form 'next number' to be used as 001504.

Ideally both the records should be incremented by 1 but its not happening..

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Rajat Agarwal

    Good morning Rajat,

Can you let us know the last number that was used when a record was created?

Is 1502 and 1503 already used and visible in position form?

What you can possibly do is deleting all pending records that you see in the status list of your number sequence (please see the respective button in the screenprint that you shared)

In addition, try using to make use of the cleanup process.

Once that is done, try creating a new employee to verify what number is used next.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Can you delete the record in the statuslist by hitting alt +f9?

    Then test again.

    Hello Ludwig,

I am not sure how the delete action would affect the existing data?

Is it safe to delete status list?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Rajat Agarwal

    Hello Rajat Agarwal,

It is usually save to delete the pending records in the status list.

If you are unsure and have not done that before, test this out in a demo/test environment to get some additional confirmation/confidence and/or get into contact with your colleagues from system administration/development.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
