Dynamics SL 2015 Evaluation

Greetings,

We are evaluating moving to Dynamics SL 2015 from 2011. We currently use Business Portal 5.0, Project Server 2010, and SharePoint 2010.

I see the Dynamics SL Web Apps replaces Business Portal. However I have yet to locate documentation that lists the Item Request functionality of Business Portal as a service provided by Web Apps. Can someone point me in the direction to find this information or does Web Apps not have this functionality?

Next I see that Dynamics SL 2015 does not support Project Server nor have a connector for the two systems. We primarily use Project Professional and Project Server to manage staffing to projects. Does anyone have recommendations on a possible path forward to move away from Project Server?

Lastly, has anyone used Web Apps for SL 2011 and then upgraded to Web Apps for 2015? Is there a documented upgrade path or is it just a fresh installation of Web Apps and no need for an upgrade or migration?

    Hi Casey,

    The Web app service for Item Request Functionality is planned as one of the later implementations .  So its releasing is coming up but I can't offer a date.

    I have no information on a path from Project Server.

    Web apps 2015 will be  a fresh install even if currently using Web apps for 2011.

    Do you know if folks have to rewrite customizations for Web apps from 2011 to work in 2015? We are considering using Web apps for 2011 and did not want to have to a lot of work if we had to redo the work for Web apps 2015.

    We believe that 2011 web apps customizations will not likely work in 2015.

    We also believe that 2015 web apps will not work with SL 2011.

    Do share with us if you find otherwise.  This is not something that we would necessarily test.

    Well, this wasn't on my radar  to test but clearly, that is my response.

    I find in checking with sources that the 2011 customizations will need to be redone for 2015
