Necessity to link production orders in D365

Dears,

I'm working on the ERP migration from AX2009 to Dynamics365 (Finance & Operations). In our business, we work with several / multiple levels of sub-conracting.
In AX2009, we have 1 production order for a finished item. In the route, we can have:
  • OP1 -> done in one of our site
  • OP2 -> done in sub-contrator x
  • OP3 -> done in sub-contrator Y
  • OP4 -> done in one of our site
All thse sub contracting opérations are hadled in 1 production orders.

But now, we understand that this cannot work as is in AX2009. We need to split the production orders so as we have: 1 production order = 1 production site.

Can you please confirm this golden rule?what is D365 standard in this use case?  is anyone here have similar use case of handling sub-contarcting production orders?

Thank you very much for your guidance.

    Hi,
    I would be honest that I do not have experience in AX2009.
    In D365, for your case, I believe, you could create WAREHOUSE for for your production plant/site and warehouses for Supplier X & Supplier Y. By that way, you could achieve this.
