Cannot create a real time Journey for multiple Segments

Posted on by 12
Contrary to Outbound marketing, in Real time Journeys I cannot start a Journey for multiple Segments.
In Outbound marketing there is the possibility of adding several conditions with an 'OR' operator to include multiple Segments.
In Real time Journeys there is only the option to select one Segment. I can create a segment that is the concatenation of multiple segments, but then the original segments get locked and it's just a mess.

Anyone know of a solution for this in Real time Journeys?

    Thank you for your input.
It's just sad that a tool like this has these limitations. For the price of Dynamics 365 and coming from Microsoft I would expect more.

Fiona gave good advice here. Either you adapt and use the work around or end up waiting for a future release from MS. I would think this would be on their roadmap possibly. Maybe not the most UX friendly but definitely possible!

    Hi,

Great question, and something I have also identified whilst becoming familiar with Real Time Marketing. Unfortunately it seems currently that this functionality isn't possible at the moment with Real Time, only Outbound, and the work-around is as you have mentioned above which would be to identify the different segments you want to target into one segment, which you would then attach to the RT journey.

Alternatively, you could play around with the Attribute branch action as below and make each branch conditional on segment membership, but you would still need to create 1 overarching segment containing all the contacts for your Journey start action in order for this to work, so I'm not sure this would necessarily be any easier than the above work-around.

If the above is helpful, please consider marking it as verified :) If you have any further questions please let me know and I will try to answer them!

    Kind regards,
    Fiona
