How to Restrict Budget

Posted on by 610

What is the method to restrict budget of an account for a period. If the amount exceeds form my allocated budget to account then it should give me warning message or something like that but not cross  the limit which i have given.

For example: if I allocated $100,000.00 to my account 000-5254-00 of purchases for a current period. If purchase increased more than $100,000 then how I can handle this scenario according to my above question.

Hi Mian, In order to control the budget for your purchases, you need to activate the POE option (aka Purchase Order Enhancement). To do so go into : Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Tools >> Setup >> Purchasing >> Purchase Order Enhancements. Click on the Help button to get more infos about this function. Once the PO Commitment is activated, you can check your Budget vs. Actual & Commited purchases in GP under Inquiry >> Purchasing >> Budget vs Actual & Committed. You can also chose to activate the Approvals option in the POE Setup, thus protecting your budgets with a password, keeping people to create PO's that would go over your planned budgets.
