PO based on BOM of manufacturing

We are in the process of implementing Manufacturing module. We have few typical requirements as follows prior making a Manufacturing Order :

-          The sales team who enters a finished good item in a Sales Order (SOP) should get a warning that this order cannot be processed due to lack of on hand availability of any of its raw material based on its standard MFG.BOM. Or at least after entering an order they should be able to make a report to see those raw material falls short to manufacture their ordered item.

-          Can a logistics handling person receive alert message on entering SOP order about the item’s short falling raw materials list relevant for its MFG.BOM ? Or is it possible to make a report of short items based of SOP orders and its relevant MFG. BOM ?

We would appreciate if you could advise how this process to be implemented ?

Is there any possibility to have a process flow chart of Dynamics GP manufacturing process ?

    Francis,

I think the closest out of the box you might get would be to use the Available to Promise module, which can be accesses by selecting the blue arrow next to the order quantity above the scrolling window.  From there a button will pop up  an on-screen report that will show all the materials needed to make the item ordered and what date manufacturing could begin, based on those dates (i.e. the latest date shown).  This could certainly be slicker than it is, but it may be a good starting point for you.

    Thanks,

    John Chastain
